The Birth of Aspin Academy

Aysha, a devoted mother of six children had always shared her loving home with several furry family members - a pack of adorable Aspins named Molly, Baxter, Hennessy, Hunter, and Maggie.

Her children adored the Aspins, learning valuable lessons about compassion and responsibility. However, their joy was repeatedly disrupted by harsh discrimination against their beloved pets.

Landlords would often reject their rental applications or demand they abandon the "askals" - a painful term that broke Aysha's heart. Her children would cry, "Why don't people like our dogs, Mommy? Is it because they are not purebred?"

Fighting Discrimination

From Rejection to Revolution

The family faced eviction notices five times in three years, forcing them to move from one rented house to another. Aysha worried about the emotional toll on her children and the safety of their pets.

One landlord's words particularly hurt: "No Aspins allowed. They're dirty street dogs. Your children will get diseases from them."

Aysha knew this was a lie. As a responsible pet owner, she ensured her Aspins received their vaccinations and proper care.

This repeated discrimination ignited a fire within Aysha. She decided to create a safe haven not only for her own family's Aspins but for all rejected and abused Aspins in the Philippines.

Aspin Academy is a SEC Registered Non-Profit Organization and an animal shelter dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Aspins (Asong Pinoy) - Filipino street dogs - who have suffered from cruelty, neglect, and discrimination.

To empower Filipino communities through education and advocacy to embrace Aspins as beloved pets, ending discrimination and promoting kindness, compassion, and responsible pet ownership towards these loyal Filipino street dogs.
